I recently listened to the CD project of Columbus, Ohio based artist Naki Akrobettoe, who shared an inspirational spoken word piece entitled “In the Meantime”. This is a celebration of her truth and thought-provoking all in one. My interpretation of this dynamic work of art was “In the meantime, what do I hear when I call God?”
Calling upon God has always been an authentic search for me. The search is my truth and my thirst is identifying the spirit of my truth. It has been a lifetime journey which I’m proud to say still continues. One would ask "why?" Because all that God conveys is so good, I cannot let go of this quest. There was a time I felt no response, but I’m sure my lifestyle didn’t aid in this quest. But when I was ready, ready for real…I observed Someone intuitive to my supplications and heartbeat. Then I decided to take a different approach by investing in God and started learning who he was and his attributes. Following this time, I started applying his principles and concepts to daily living. I wanted to see if God was real and sustainable. As a result, I gained alternatives versus defeat. I realized that, indeed, I have options despite daily obstacles and the influence of worldly views. I discovered I am a benefactor of time invested and the true spirit of God activates at appointed times and lingers in those "just in case" moments. I personally found God is real and truth in all his ways. He proves it daily by bestowing undeserved renewed grace and mercies.
In the meantime, I leave you with instructions to listen to this artist's creative work by clicking on the SoundCloud link below. Then come back here and provide responses to what you heard. In addition, comment on how you anticipate responding to what you heard.
